Movie Review: Elemental(2023)
A heart warming story of a family who has sacrificed and leaving their home to get a better future for their daughter. A story of two kinds of elements falling in love a nd breaking the phrase " Fire and Water can't fall in love." A Pixar movie directed by Peter Sohn who has been nominated for 6 awards and has been involved in productions such as Finding Nemo(2000), The incredibles(2000) and Wall.E.(2008). A film written by John Horberg, Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh. The film stars Leah Lewis as Ember, Mamoudou Athie as Wade Ripple, Ronnie Del Carmen as Bernie, Shila Ommi as Cinder, Wendi McLendon-Covey as Gale, Catherine O’Hara as Brook, Mason Wertheimer as Clod, Ronobir Lahiri as Harold, Wilma Bonet as Flarrietta, Joe Pera as Fern and Matthew Yang King as Alan, and Earth Pruner.
Although there is a lot of critisism around the feature film, I enjoyed it. A very heart warming and powerful film showing the power of sacrifice. Through out the film it did have a memorable scene which was where fire bowed to her father to show respect. Maybe it's touching for me because I'm Asian and that is how we respect our mother, father and other people who have a higher rank.
The script itself had a lot of touching moments, the strong relationship between the father and daugther. It had many moments which build the tension and went deep down into making a parents proud and to continue their success.
There was also a non-binary character in there where I didn't seem to see. So it has made history for becoming the worst opening movie from Pixar. This was all cause by a non-binary character. Considering there audience target is children, they shouldn't be involving a like that. All the kids want is to see a fun movie.
Overall, it was emotion, funny and realistic relating to a situation someone has been through. The mora of sometime a sacrimust happen for the better future.
