On Set As An Extra
This week I got the chance to work on a commercial, with a pretty well known company. I had a great time! It was my first time working on a big set like this. I have worked mainly on student projects. The people were nice and got to meet some really cool people. I am not able to say much but this is what I learnt.
Professionalism
It is such a different vibe from student projects. On big sets, everyone is calm despite the pressure and working with young actors, kids. I saw how they dealt with them and how they worked with them. How they communicated to us as well. When they are going for a shoot, it is impossible for everyone to stay quiet because everyone has something they need to get done, like the uni move.
After this scene, we had to move to a completely different location, we were all ready to go and there was a van ready for us. Everything moved quickly and efficiently.
As an extra, there were a lot of long waits, there was food and drinks to have. And all we did was we went to the counter, ordered and it went on the company’s tab which was great.
There is a different level of professionalism but also they are having fun. It has a nice vibe and we are making something special together.
I think what helped me in those moments was the fact that I knew what was going on. I had worked on a film set for years and I know how it goes and where I stand.
It feels rewarding at the end of the day, even though I probably wasn’t in that much but I was part of a project that is supporting comedy and giving to those who need it.
Can’t wait for more.
