The Writers Mind

Inside our little minds, there are these little things going on around when writing. We continue to try and develop the story, trying to make it better. I enjoy. I let some of my friends read my scripts and they come back with really good feedback and also amazing ideas. The way human brain works is astonishing. It is always developing ideas and growing. I recently wrote a script. About a boxer confronting himself between his future and his coach. It's a four minute script and it told everything that needed to be told. Here are the things I have realised when writing the script.

1.These ideas come out of nowhere.

When I wrote this I knew I wanted to write something about sport. First I wanted something I could throw myself in to. I then found boxing came in to my head. Thinking about it. The sport is about hard work, talent and who you surround yourself with the right people. Also, looking back I first wanted to talk about corruption and how the people you thought had your back turns on you.

I also did horse riding and playing in the sport makes me sees that there's always cheats and unworthy people wanting to win so much they don't work or try to save the horse.

These ideas do come from my experiences just not the liking of the sport. It has made me realise that sport for some people is only winning but for me, it's being able to love something even if it doesn't go to plan.

2.The development of the script

I wrote the first draft and edited the second. Sent the script and the video of why they should pick my script. I got it. Someone who loved sports like me chose it. The ending also touch him too.

If you write something personal, they could definitely relate to. I wrote the ending with " I love you sir" That's a powerful line when you are talking through the script. I never said that to the people who helped me coach, being an athlete I became. I wish I did.

3.Open to opinions

If your script is chosen, having the mind to be open is important. You need to be collaborative. You can't shut down people's ideas because they aren't yours.

Everyone's idea is valid and should be respected. Mine is more between the coach and him. He has to make a decision for his future.

I got some really cool ideas for the story from people around me.
